My Nightmare Now

My Nightmare Now

A Poem by Amy Black

We found out today.

I've been nervous about it for a week.

It looked just like pictures in the medical books.

But pictures in books

are just pictures.

It will never happen to you.

It's always someone else's nightmare.

Until, of course, it's yours.

Mom has cancer.

I wrote this when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She's fine now! No worries!
