High Tide

High Tide

A Poem by Amy

Alone on this ocean with hurt so deep, so very painful.

Within the soul a bruise so black, no one could possibly know

All that I bear.

Like a tidal wave, memories arise in the eye of my mind.

So vivid and clear, anger abides.

I say to myself, give it some time the wave will soon subside.

I fear a life lost to this pain an empty floating shell.

Awake in the morning to the sound of a gull.

A new beginning! A chance to give it all!

The connection I feel to this great universe,

No longer I feel this looming curse.

Something inside ensures great hope,

I know I can heal and I know I can cope.

I endured so much, I have great strength.

The courage is mine, for no one can take.

Your truest nature, it’s all that you need,

To realize you can heal and you can succeed.

Take a deep breath, focus your attention here.

Another deep breath to cleanse and to clear.

A lesson in life I assure you can trust,

A positive outcome is dependent on a positive mind,

This is a must.

You’re the captain of this beautiful ship,

Set on a voyage, a crazy adventure, what a trip.

The vision is yours; you’re as free as a bird.

No it’s not silly, and never absurd.

Take refuge in the things that inspire you most.

For me it’s the ocean along the world’s beautiful coast.

Vast and profound love runs so deep,

Around ever corner it is yours to keep.

Author's Note

Amy
I wrote this poem for the women at the Battered Womens Shelter, as I felt a little hope might help. It was Mother's Day and we also gave them roses and blank journels.

this poem means a lot to me as I have known too many women who were abused and battered . positive words and support will help them on their way to a brighter future.

a great poem demonstrating real, heart felt emotions. despair sets in, but it is in the hope of a new tomorrow that allows us to rise above it all and move on.

nice work with this, lovely to read :)
