The Trapped Wings

The Trapped Wings

A Poem by Amrita Sharma Pokharel

"Flap-flap",

the fluttering wings

Ready for the first flight,

Lofty dreams…

Unheard of the bitter verity,

Her liberal flight in this vast green,

Detained on the poisonous web…

Appeared as a dance

in the notes of saxophones

set with the rhythm, so, melancholy…

Untiring Will, to be free

But, futile, the efforts were

She’s never going to

Give up!

The fluttering wings and a dance

the world got mesmerized and enchanted,

Applauded,

For her performance…

Only the wearers know where shoe pinches

they admire to be in that world

Devoid of the tragedy of that paradise

false pleasure of sophistication,

The pain, the suffocation, in reality

Perfectly written...I can feel the pain of bearer and claps of those beholders...for us things may appear beautiful and we rejoice but , in fact, the pain - lies in those who perform...

Only the wearers know where shoe pinches
they admire to be in that world
Devoid of the tragedy of that paradise
false pleasure of sophistication,
The pain, the suffocation, in reality

It touched the string of my heart...This stanza gave the life to this poem!

Hats off,
Ams :)
