My Shadow

My Shadow

A Poem by Amrita Sharma Pokharel

  • I was all unaccompanied in my way
    enjoying the scenario of
    this solid and elongated way
    Contented
    in whatever i had got,
    But,
    all of sudden
    Happen to see
    My shadow,
which was mine but entirely different than me,
    I was blissful
    and made it my friend..
and began to fantasized a new
    ...from'' top to bottom''
     A different world...
when i used to be gloomy-
    ''it sang for me''
when i used to be happy-
    ''it shared ecstasy with me''
when i used to be angry -
It sat ''beside me -waiting for saccharine smile-on my face''
    Now i find me myself
    in it...
    being its component
    everlastingly...
    I am
    My own shadow, now...

[this poem is dedicated to my mom ,dad ,bhotu, and to my child-Ish friend]

A very strong poem of life and family. We are built by experience and example. Good people will show us the way to peace and happiness. I like the use of shadows. We are shadows of many. I hear my father and Grandfather voice when I speak. Thank you for a excellent poem.

I love this poem about your shadow. It goes everywhere with you and experiences the things you go through right along with you. We never are truly alone. Great creative and descriptive write.

What an interesting concept. A plausible abstract
of a shadow being sort of a guiding light to find
ones way in life...Nicely done..

Shadows make believe friends, as well as, spirits thought to be near us, guides if you will. They all have a common connection with us. Our desire to belong. I often visit my favorite beach, the one I went to after my Father Died and it is there I find solace and communion with him..
