I like that this view is positive. So many people complain about how terrible it is. I am always like, yes no one is perfect and the past was unfair and unkind, but we are moving in the right direction. And look at the rest of the world. There's so much disease, famine, genocide, infanticide, war and poverty! I tell people that we are spoiled. They have no idea what harsh conditions are ad are lucky to not have bombs blowing up innocent homes and kids. Thanks for writing.
I'm sorry for getting to this piece late, but regardless, I'm here now.
At first when I read this, I was slowly slipping into a political/personal mindset. But, I reminded myself that I needed to suspend my own beliefs because this wasn't about me, it's about reviewing another author's work. While I did find the breaks a bit odd, I did like the flow of the work. It actually grasped a very good ebb to it, almost like the tide coming in then going out. I liked that feeling. And your patriotism is great, as well. I'm glad you wrote this in celebration for the 4th. Happy belated 4th of July!
I cannot comment on the politics, but the form and style are well written, and the sentiments are clearly and boldly stated.

Unfortunately I think judgement is coming to America. 4,000 abortions per day. The Bible is criticized in universities, media and books whereas the new generations are being conditioned to not believe it. Suppressed world-wide Christian persecution in the media and suppressed archaeology supporting the Bible. Idolatry, wicked TV, Wicked music, Wicked Hollywood which people support with their dollars.
This is definitely not a nation that lives as if it is under God. What percent of Americans even read their Bible and at that even believe it?

Thank you so very much for your insight and stopping by!
I slung a rifle for this country in Afghanistan and Iraq. It left me bitter and all the wiser to America's brutally hawkish foreign policy. I was never to comfortable with the "hero" label either. We did what we did because we had to. While there's plenty of bitching about pretty much everything in the corps defying orders isn't an option. Partly because it would be treason, mostly because you'd be letting your fire team, your platoon, your unit, your division and the Marine corps down and Marines don't do that. You know your buddies are going out there and you'd sooner die than let them down. I've never felt that kind of love for anyone before or since. Extreme violence brings out the best and the worst in all of us at the same time. Take care Amos

What a gorgeous prayer :) In the midst of bad government choices and negativity, I forget to remember what a great country we live in and how lucky we Americans are. This poem brought back some of my appreciation :)
Love the last paragraph. It's interesting how this country argues about beliefs, morals and laws all year round except for on this day. On the 4th everyone is just happy to be able to live here on top of the world with our loved ones at our side.
Beautifully worded Amos!
A. Amos is a deep thinker with a passion for understanding the mysteries of life, love, and humanity. He has traveled throughout the world and is heavily invested in the personal development of others.. more..
