Chapter One

Chapter One

A Chapter by Ashley Morrison

Izara was a princess. A High Princess to be exact and she would inherit her family’s kingdom after her father died. She was Getting ready for the standard meet and greet ball with all the eligible bachelors of the kingdom (all Noble’s of course). She was dressed in her Favorite Purple Dress her Hair Tied up into a complex Plaited Hairdo, and she was uncomfortable as heck. All Izara wanted to do was escape the palace life and be free to find love on her own.

“High Princess Izara Ironstone Heir to the throne of the Ironstone Kingdom!” Izara’s Name Was Called out and she started her Decent Down the stairs, Smiling to the Crowd she was used to seeing every year. No One really talked to her anyway Mostly she just sat alone. This night was different though.

“Good evening Princess Izara.” a voice said from behind her that she didn’t recognize. “would you Care to dance?”

She Turned around to a man Bowing and holding his hand out towards her. She hesitated For a moment but knew she had to take the extended hand, so she accepted the invite and started to dance with this stranger.

“Princess you’re Quiet wouldn’t you at least like to know my name.” He said “My Name is Ayred Knight.”

“Is this your First ball here in Illesia? Where are you from?” She said bluntly, she was never good at conversation and usually just said what came to mind first.

“Right down to it eh?” he said smiling. Izara blushed a little. “I am a Prince From the Nivine Islands. I am here for your hand princess.” Izara Stopped dancing at this sudden proclamation.

She was taken aback by his boldness but Managed to squeak out a “goodbye” Before she turned around and walked away. She stepped out on the balcony of the ballroom, her heart pounding in her chest. No one had ever been so Openly Bold to her before.

“So you wanted to get me alone on the balcony? You could have just said so.” She turned abruptly towards his voice.

She took a step back and bumped into the railing of the balcony. “what are you doing out here? You need to leave.”

“I’m sorry Princess,” a Sly Smile came across his face. “I hope I didn’t scare you off before, I can be a bit overbearing.”

Izara Felt Trapped she has never had so much attention from one person. She started Breathing quick shallow breaths. She couldn’t find her voice to even call for the guards and he was stepping closer and closer to her.

“I am not going to hurt you, I only want to get to know you better.” He said taking another step closer to her, and noticing how uncomfortable she looked. “Are you alright Princess?”

“S… s… stop, Please don’t c… come any closer.” She Choked out, and Ayred Stopped in his tracks. He could see her mind working trying to figure out how to escape this situation. Her eyes kept darting to the doorway to the balcony hoping someone would come out.

Ayred took a couple steps back and saw her relax a little. “Princess again I’m not going to hurt you; I only want to get to know you better. Like I said I want your hand.”

“Why me? I'm sure you have your pick of elven girls Sir.” She said hesitantly

“You are the high Princess and I wish so combine our two nations and become high king of course.”

“I am not interested in a political marriage. My Father has agreed that I will only marry for love.” Still a bit apprehensive from Being alone with this elf.

“Then I guess I will just have to make you love me.” He Smirked

“I believe you should leave Prince Ayred Knight, and Don’t come back I am not a prize and I can not be won.” She Said and started walking towards the door Head held high Ignoring the Prince now.

“I will win your heart Izara.” He bowed as she went past and she ignored him still. She headed back into the party to talk to her father. She was very done with this evening and felt drained.

Back in the party she found her father quickly, he was sitting in his throne just watching the attendants of the party. He stood when he saw Izara coming. She curtsied to him and he bowed back, he then offered his arm to her, and they walked off towards the garden.

“Well my daughter, have you found someone you find interesting this night?” He said smiling.

“No I am sorry, no one really talked to me as usual, well except this infuriating Prince.” She said, and shook her head when she said Prince.

“Infuriating? I see. How was he infuriating?”

“He was Bold and Crass, and had the nerve to corner me out on the balcony.” Her Father Chuckled as she said this. “What’s so funny Father?”

“You know your mother was not so thrilled by our first meeting. She was about your age, Zaleria Fenhana, she was the most beautiful Woman there.” He sighed. “ I was too bold with her as well, I Proposed right then and there, she of course thought me to be very Crass, and would have nothing to do with me. Every time I saw her after that she would turn her head and ignore me. She eventually came around though.”

“That’s not the same father.” Izara Said and couldn’t stop herself from smiling. Every since her mother died her father, King Rothilion Facaryn, hadn’t been the same. He only smiled when she was around, she did look a lot like her mother Very Long Dark Blonde hair and green eyes that matched hers. Her father was also very old, 618 years to be exact. “Well, I think I’m done with the ball this year, I’m going to bed. Goodnight Father.” She Kissed his cheek And headed towards her bedroom.

She didn’t take long at all to change into her dressing gown for bed and drift off to sleep. Izara Had A strange Dream that night, she was walking down the hallway Following someone, she couldn’t see His Face, They Kept walking corner after corner, Turn after Turn. Suddenly she found herself in the gardens The man Facing away From her, He slowly turned towards her and smiled, in the dream she recognized Ayren and she wasn’t afraid, He offered his had and she took it they walked for a little bit through the gardens, without saying a word. He stopped abruptly and stood facing her, He Said something she Couldn’t understand, She didn’t answer, and he said it again, and she still didn’t answer and then she woke up. She was known for having prophetic dreams, But she wasn’t sure if this was one of them, she soon drifted back to sleep this time dreaming of her mother, Until she woke up again the next morning.

Tip ,expand your sentences more, and, use commas. It makes me feel uncomfortable reading this. This is because the style you write with is congested, you have so many ideas you want to fit all into one sentence or paragraph, yes? This makes me breathe uncomfortably as I read the story, so, no luck there.

I recommend using long windy sentences, then catching the reader with a 'sucker punch.' This is where you toy with their reading, where you will make details that manifest slowly, and, with detail, lulling them into a deep state of relaxation, enjoying the story and the way it makes them feel. Then, all of a sudden, you bring the objects and character together like as one big climax!

Tip, if you like your character that much, simply copy ad paste your story, change her name, and, add commas and details, editing the 'punches' to be hard low and fast. That is what I would do, anyway...

Otherwise, sort of amusing, sixty percent.
