Kiss Of Death!

Kiss Of Death!

A Poem by Arielle Ann

Merciless, the sky showers down,

Onto the solitary lad driving uptown.

Pelting raindrops splashes, smearing the glass,

Clouds cracking with thunder,

Boughs slash the highway,

Threatening to perish the loner!

Though then with utmost valor and daring vigor,

Merely with his Porsche to escort,

Imploring to the Mother, he struggles alone,

Coaxing himself to propel on!

Then;

Through the brume and hazy light,

Did he glimpse a helpless in plight?

Waving her arms, divine in luminous white,

Drenched and stranded in the misty night!

Hailing for aid, those beseeched eyes begging him,

How could the lad not attend to so earnest a whim?

Rolling down the pane, he ushers her in,

So fair the maiden with no kith or kin!

Oh;

But then what befalls?

Why the air so chill?

He gazes then at the lass,

No more is she a damsel tethered still!

Dread now seizes the lad,

Alas, why did he halt!

Lured by her treacherous grace,

Conceives he his folly, now with a jolt!

Eyes agape in mortal peril,

He plugs his ears so tight,

Shuddering to the wail so harrowing of the banshee,

As she unlocks her lips so icy, pupils flashing white!

Moves she to embark the coach by his side,

Clambering through the pane to sit to his right.

And now the lad, throttles his Porsche to gear ,

With the crave to tether her afar,

But undeterred is she to depart him not,

Clings the maid so pale onto the coach’s pane,

Her knuckles grazing now start to rot!

He urges the carriage to speed at full,

But she lurches so fast, like the rampant bull!

Without the hint of the desire to leave,

She pursues him on, upto that fathomed cliff,

Unknowing of the plight to betide him yet,

Realizes he not till he reaches the edge!

Gyrating by the hinge, his carriage now lingers,

Paralyzed with fear, tingles chill through his spine,

Acknowledges now his end,

Laying his last prayers to the Virgin’s son,

Tilts the mass of steel,

Lurches and tumbles over!

‘Twas,

The end to the breath of a young lover,

Wiped away by his mate to eternity forever!

Love the quaint language - how you called his car a 'carriage' :D
Brought to mind countless husbands who have been driven over the edge by their wives' screaming :D Nice piece thanks for sharing!

You are a amazing storyteller. I like the way you led me into thoughts and situation. I like the storyline and the strong ending.
"She pursues him on, upto that fathomed cliff,
Unknowing of the plight to betide him yet,"
No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

Ouah. Your use of English is astonishing. The words you chose, the way you arrange them; and of course the sad story that you paint. This is beautiful poetry.

Lovely write...i loved the way you blended traditional and modern styles in this supernatural/romantic/tragic/fantasy poem. Fabulous melange of styles out here...without sacrificing or compromising on rhyme or meter throughout...

craftily drawn picture... the write is almost haunting... darkness sprinkled all over it... the Porsche ... and the metaphors... and a sad ending.... nice write...
