Sweet scars of torture~

Sweet scars of torture~

A Poem by Arielle Ann

Silently you rest over this cold hearth, by my warm glass of wine

As the chill in this gloomy night grazes past my parched lips,

I let my fingers glide through, where once your fair crust used to gleam

I let my nails scrape across, where once your lips used to part in a smile.

Mesmerizingly I stare at those hollow eyes, bereft of their sparkle and shine

Whilst you murmured evil tales of forbidden dreams in those moonlit nights,

Alas now, all that is left are decayed remnants of hard bones and flesh

But forever have I preserved them with that unrelenting faith in rebirth.

Your love was there to heal, your passion to torment

But you chose to depart, leaving behind those sweet scars of torture,

My love was there to kill, embrace you close while I wept

But you chose to depart, leaving behind those sweet scars of torture.

Reminds me of a love/hate relationship I was in once. It built op my ego but destroyed my emotions.

The poem has an exquisitely dark touch to it. Holding on to the remnants of someone I love would be a totally novel and unique experience. Much enjoyed...
