Filthy Blood

Filthy Blood

A Poem by Arielle Ann

A lone vein pulsates, as my blood it gushes ,

I spare a fleeting glance, and yet it slushes!

I seal shut my eyes, but it doesn’t cease,

Filthy blood ~ so ardent to seek release!

As the hush of that evil night shrouds me in,

Oh thou evil hum, masking me within!

Devouring my soul in its spiteful drone,

A lone whisper clear in that night unknown!

See you are mine, it chuckles in my ear,

Rotten beyond repair, yes you are my dear,

I crouch in fear, the breeze tingles my skin,

The vein is throbbing, as I weep in chagrin .

I squash my fingers to my wrist in anguish,

My nails descend into the warmth beneath,

“Filthy blood, no more will you slosh again!”

“Pour out”, I shriek, as I slash out that vein!

Author's Note

Arielle Ann
This is purely a write of symbolism, please don't be misled by the title or the lines of my write. This is purely metaphorical. The other night I noticed that when you pay attention you seem to feel each and everything around you , which otherwise might have gone unnoticed. So it depends purely on us, about what we choose to drive our concentration upon. If its dark and negative, it will finally devour us.Similarly if it is positive and inspirational , it can take us to great heights. So happy reading!

this is both intense and melodic which gives it a "can't stop till you finish me" quality. i love the use of personification for the lifeblood and the wordplay.

thank you so much for the kind words!
Wickedly intense and chilling... A horror story wrapped in a poem... you could be the Stephen King of poetry.

It was greatly my pleasure.
Well executed rhyme scheme I must say, it flows seamlessly, yes as poets there are times when we focus on the moment, in It's own way time speaks to us...

Wow. The powerful description took the reader into thoughts of blood and a bad ending. I like the complete poem. Thank you for the excellent poem.
