Martyred

Martyred

A Poem by Angel Alli
"

Dedicated and in memory of all martyrs.

"

The caged bird sings.

But I never did.

I never realized how lucky I was.

My brothers and sister are dying far away.

And I can’t even be bothered to pray.

I’ve forgotten my freedom.

Overlooked it time and time again.

I was never persecuted for believing in Him.

My brothers and sisters are martyred today.

Would I be able to do the same?

Honestly, and without a doubt, the best two line opening I've seen since joining the site. A very touching poem, Angel, great work!

Thank you so much! It's hard to value freedom, when you don't know what it's like to live without it.. read more
