I'm TryingA Poem by Angel AlliBreaking the cycle.I had my life together before we met. You took that and screwed it all up. When you hung that rope around your neck. Can I say, “f**k you, look what you’ve done?” Now I’m lying in pieces. My heart you have wrung. I’m too much like you now. In fact, sometimes, I feel eerily close. Years have passed, though I’m still in this void. I don’t want to hurt others, like you’ve hurt me. I don’t blame you, but you’ve had your effect. Sometimes slipping away seems like the greatest friend. I can’t give up. You wouldn’t want that. You would want me to be happy, And I’m trying. I promise I’m trying. © 2015 Angel Alli |
