Hoosier Nation

Hoosier Nation

A Poem by Angel Alli
"

A poem about good ole' Indiana.

"

Here in Indiana,

the crossroads of America,

a kind folk exist,

and they’re called Hoosiers.

A special Midwestern breed,

Hoosiers surround themselves

with field after field

of corn and soybeans.

Here in Indiana,

it is not uncommon to see

more Christian churches

than fast-food drive-ins

But Hoosiers love their food,

it’s really plain to see,

for Southern Indiana

ranks high in obesity.

Hoosiers, for the most part,

tend to be friendly.

But sparks start to fly at mention

of the Purdue and IU rivalry.

Here in Indiana,

the weather is crazy.

Prepare in the morning

for each of the seasons.

When traveling here,

Hoosiers take caution

because driving behind tractors

can get quite bothersome.

Perhaps one day,

you too will pass through

the great Hoosier nation

in the great Indiana.
