Between Us

Between Us

A Poem by Ammarie

They fill our angry silences as only children can

Their laughter echoing in the cold tomb of indifference

Between us

Still too young to realize the two safe pillars of their existence

Are slowly crumbling on either side of them

As they play innocently in the rubble
