Nights Like These

Nights Like These

A Poem by Ammarie

Warm nights, open windows, the moon slips in
A light breeze in the dark dances over our skin

The noises outside make music in the street
And plays just for us; our own secret beat

Lights dance on the ceiling thrown in by the cars
It reminds me of lying in the open with stars

And our bodies are planets we yearn to explore
Oceans of wanting lapping at shore

Words are not needed to express what we share
As you kiss on my fingers and play with my hair

In the dark no one sees us or knows who we are
We make love with the breath of each passing car
