Twirled

Twirled

A Poem by The Flawed

Lately:
I’ve stopped killing time, I torture it instead,
I pay my bills twice, just in case,
I’ve been walking on the wrong side of the opposite pavement,
I’ve been climbing trees all the way up to their roots
I’ve been wearing my jeans and t-shirts over my suits,
I asked my mother if she was a virgin,
I’ve been taking sleeping pills for a boost,
I’ve learned a new language that no one else speaks (I taught myself)
I went to a clairvoyant to tell me about my present
I’ve been doing star jumps in my sleep
I buy take out sushi and cook it
I’ve been dreaming in Chinese with subtitles.

And lately:
Lately, I’ve been missing her,
No, not really, that would be crazy,
Wouldn’t it?

it's a brilliant little piece, I like the humor in it. Especially the parenthetical, "I taught myself". I might suggest that a clairvoyant is very well able to tell you about your present self as well as past and future selves. . . that line could be a little stronger.

I like the way it ends. A really nice piece. I enjoyed it.

The irony of this piece was very striking..
The irony of this piece was everything in it, from the plot to the message conveyed.
And I absolutely loved it..Its so raw and heart wrenching.

I like how you kept me guessing and made me laugh with the funny unpredictable steps. Dreaming in subtitles! Language all your own! I appreciate your sense of humor.

Like the others before me, I much enjoyed the humor in this piece. However, I also like the pure and simple truth that lies within. When someone we love so much, someone who has been our compass in life, leaves us...it leaves us twisted, or 'twirled'. It turns our lives, our logic, upside down. Whether they leave us by choice, or through some tragic twist of fate, makes no difference. Overall, this piece was beautifully written. I do however agree with Ms. Burns about the clairvoyant. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. Well done.

This was amazing. Its like your having a conversation with yourself. I like the ending a lot. You done a nice job expressing yourself with this piece. We do the craziest things and its all okay. Nicely done.

I love the whimsy of this and all the upside down logic, it is just inspired. And the mocking twist in the tail is a delight. I won't say which bits i like best as I like them all, the wit and mood being sustained from start to finish.
