Magic Mushroom

Magic Mushroom

A Poem by The Flawed

It’s an inhuman world,
“I DON’T WANT TO DIE”
The planet earth is about to explode.
Is this the way we chose  to live?
Is this the way it’s meant to be?
Is it the system, or is it we?
Well who made the system, but you and me?

Is the lord as fair as they make him out to be?
If he can show us the way, then why won't he?
We spend all our lives running around in circles,
Looking for more money and love,
What happens at the end?
We just drop and die.

Somehow it doesn’t seem neat,
In fact, it’s incomplete,
Why couldn’t there be more in it?
Why couldn’t life be a treat?

Everything is automatic,
You press the button change the channel,
Sit yourself down, watch the panel,
You sit for month and month to program a game,
That’s going to beat you again and again anyway.
You pull the trigger and the guy is dead,
And if someone tries to make it the easy way,
They sit him on an electric chair,

Somehow it doesn’t seem neat,
In fact it’s incomplete,
Why couldn’t there be more in it?
Why couldn’t life be a treat?

I’ll tell you what’s going to happen, and it’s coming soon,
One night when the stars are shining, and there’s a full moon,
Some clowns hiding behind their flag in an underground room,
Press a button, and BANG there’s a mushroom.

Somehow it doesn’t seem neat,
In fact it’s incomplete,
Everything will go in a flash,
Even the war pigs
“I DON’T WANT TO DIE”

' One night when the stars are shining, and there's a full moon, ~ Some clowns hiding behind their flag in an underground room, ~ Press a button, and BANG there's a mushroom.' Those incredible words say it all .. that's been the fear hanging over Man's collective head for years.

Your poem is skillfully written with a message to anyone and everywhere who reads it. And, yes, we made the system or indeed, perpetuated and still perpetuate it. Pathetic us, indifferent us.

Thank you for sharing this very thought-provoking post. I'll point the way here to some of my friends.

The sheer bleakness of your poem appeals to my carefree sense of life denying protest. I think we overrate ourselves as a species and as individuals. We simply don't matter. And on a personal basis I find it better not to bother looking for sugar-highs of any kind. Total silence and the time to do absolutely nothing is all I ask. Is it strange to want no one around one? Nature will certainly improve on us. We are far too aggressive to be one of its better ideas. Lichen has far more going for it than we do. I like the way your poems make me feel OK about my inner misanthrope. Speaking of war pigs, I am reading about the battle of Kursk in 1943, one of WW2's biggest rucks. The notion of those men finding themselves caught up in it because of the wills of two men is utterly baffling. As a chess game it makes total sense. But looking at grainy pics of men, real men, sitting on the backs of tanks, going to their deaths, is extraordinarily odd. We are very unappealing animals. I include myself in that. My fascination with human flaws is itself something of a flaw.

"Is the lord as fair as they make him out to be? If he can show us the way, then why wont he?" The Christians believe that Jesus has shown us the way through his own life and words as an example of how to live and how we should treat one another. That is in response to this question. If you are in a burning building and I show you the way to escape and you choose not to take it and die, am I then to blame for your death? Because that is what mankind expects when they lay the blame on God for their own weakness and ignorance. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life". But he preached a path of peace, love and forgiveness ,not one of war, hatred and revenge. So I don't think man can blame whatever god he believes in for problems of his own making if we pay no attention to anything we have been taught. Mankind is hell bent on destroying himself and his world and he lacks the backbone to take responsibility for his own actions so he blames God. But like the old farmer said, "That dog won't hunt." Just my thoughts.

Yes i think you might be right with your final analogy perhaps someone in a white coat will decide enough is enough and then we will have a new universe and a new planet and god will see his new vision return and everything will go full circle round and round dejavu and all that jazz.
I like your ideal world metaphors we live in imperfect times, man or woman has always strived for change sometimes for the sake of change but evolve we have but now things are static and morality and decency are long gone, society has nowhere to go but degredation and ultimate decline, faith is almost dead and spiritually humanity has lost the plot,i for my part feel that you have just scratched the surface of what is wrong with our society,if we are a me myself i full of my own self importance society we are doomed and so will think the scientists and power merchants who control our lives.
