Mermaid Dog

Mermaid Dog

A Poem by The Flawed

I’ve seen the ugliness in beauty,
And I’ve seen the beauty in pain.
I’ve seen someone die in total grace,
And I’ve lived a thousand angry deaths.
I’ve seen the change,
From love to hate to indifference to pity
To sex to lust to dreams and back to love again,
In a blink of an eye
I’ve seen circles, squares, stars, moons,
Lips, breasts, fangs and claws

I had a dog that loved me,
And then she bit me, the B***h.
I once found a mermaid, who kissed me,
I held her and thought, that this must be every mans wish,
Then she went into a cocoon,
And turned into a piranha fish
Where was I?
Oh, the answer,
I don’t know,
I never quite understood the question.

oh this poem is awesome!!!

the line where u called that dog a b***h made me smile :)

and the line, "From love to hate to indifference to pity" (excluding the line after it), is how my relationship with my dad has gone
i was surprised with how accurately that transformation is described in such a simple line
that line either took a lot and a lot of thinking about it, picking the perfect words
or it came to you in a second and you were like, "nice!!, i really like that line!!, and its perfect!!"
(or thats how i am... i dunno if anyone else is like that)

oh i've seen it too my dear...the puppy to a wolf...

the gentleman to the beast...

the beauty in the pain of loving...loving in vain.

I LOVE this. Very dark, but true.

"Then she went into a cocoon,
And turned into a piranha fish"

This part especially I like, because it just sums of everything you say in the poem. Cocoons are supposed to be where a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, where they flourish and become beautiful, but the essence of this whole piece is how things turn from sweet to sour, and this expressed it perfectly. Favourited, no question.

Thanks for sharing this, this is amazing.

Enjoyed this one very much. You are right. Everything seems to have its opposite in it and things can change so rapidly. I like the weary wryness of the obsever. I wonder what life -- the silent manipulator behind it all -- wld have to say to such an observer? I wonder if you feel sad having come to these conclusions about life? Is to see life for how it is a curse? The more we know...

Not at all what I expected. And sometimes that is the highest praise. Well done.

Very nicely done.

I love the concept of this poem as it not only has some deep thought
provoking lines but it also has humor to lighten the feel of the more
depressing lines.

Love it.
