Dark Love

Dark Love

A Poem by The Flawed

Funny thing love, first it turns you on, and then it turns on you.
It slowly becomes a part of you,
Then in a blink of an eye, it tears you apart.
It takes you to the loneliest of places,
Like the poetry section of a library,
Or inside a bottle, in a sleazy bar,
It makes you do the strangest of things,
Like staring at the phone, willing it on to ring,
Or lying on the snow covered grass, and gazing at the sun.
Wandering if it’s too late,
If she’s happy,
What would she change, if she could?
Is it better to be safe & numb, or to take a gamble at the risk of being happy?
Funny thing love, first it turns you on, and then it turns on you.

This is very similar to the dialouge the Private Detective in a Film Noir or in a Raymond Chandler book has at the beginning, before he starts explaining the huge mess he's gotten his self into. I like the tone here and the confusion of the voice. This is a very sympathetic voice. One I know and write about as well. Good job.

Love makes you do crazy things, insane things..it teaches you to put someone else before you..this writing is most probably familiar to all those who are in love or were in love, it is natural to feel like this, lost, protective, it makes you feel all kinds of things. It is unconditional. =D beautiful writing, i really appreciated your comparisons of loneliness. Beautiful!

It's simply beautiful. I have to agree, love indeed is a funny thing, except when it already turns on you, there's no escape. You're an amazing writer.

Keep Writing. ^___^

i decided to revisit this, just out of curiosity.. and oo this is a dark one my friend. heady and rich, but filled with dank corners and angry silences

tho in the middle of the anger i saw this:

It takes you to the loneliest of places,
Like the poetry section of a library,

and i smiled a rather rueful smile at its truth.. kinda makes you wonder what we're doing round here anyways, doesnt it?

i love the play on words that love is turning you on and then turning on you
as if love was a switch
how easy would that be...

This piece is hauntingly familiar. As if I dreamt I read it in a dream. My only problems with this piece are a common spelling error, and the use of a symbol in place of a word. Where you say, "Wandering if it's too late," I think you mean wondering. Powerful words written by a gifted poet. Well done.

I love this poem and I can totally relate to it. Love can give you the most precious memories but at the same time take them away. Really great piece, Keep on writing ;)

so true....so very, very true....but I still believe in love because, in my own life experience, i find that love actually does its best and most important work whenever it "turns on you" and is rarely influential if it only "turns you on."
