You

You

A Poem by Mina Salva

We walk and we run
We stop and we fall
My heart dun, but I'll stay tall
I catch breathes, when I see you in the hall
But I bet you don't know who I am at all

As a child, as a teen, I've grown up strong
I know who I am, I know where I belong
Love and warmth attached to me
You are perfect, don't make this be
My spoiled hopes, my crashed wishes
You are my dreams, I wish they weren't my screams

Writing your name on a blurred mirror
Listening to your favorite song when everything else is not a prior
Can you read the words from my eyes?
Can you see behind it the lies?
I wouldn't have these cuts on my arms
I wouldn't cry for so long nights
I can't speak, I can't let my voice be heard
Because I'm not your first, I'm your third
I'm not a beautiful girl you wanted, I'm just a hopeless bird
Flying in the pure air, hopelessly finding my way
You don't know my real day
You only know the half of it, you only know the half of me

You are my one and only
I'm afraid to lose you, I'm scared to death
Let me have my deep breath
Now I'm ready to fight
Seeing the kisses you make, so soft and slight
With the girl you see in light
