1: Dare

The first chapter of In The Screen

Rochelle logged onto her laptop. The instant messaging window popped up, this time with a message from one of her friends, Cassy. She was raving and ranting about some random books she had read and then she suddenly went quiet. Rochelle knew she had been distracted by something. Then another chat window opened, this time with just one message. A link. When she clicked on it, it took her to a site that plainly said 'Challenges Open'. A small flashing box caught Rochelle's eye, so she clicked on it. The next page opened in full splendor. Colours flashed over the screen, the leader board swapping between neon colours.The leader board counted from 1 to 15, with the person's screen name, how many challenges they had completed and how many points they had. Rochelle only knew this because a pop up window had opened automatically screaming the information in blinding colours. On top was someone named 'Isiah' who had 700 973 856 points and 107 challenges. Next was 'Jimmy' with 698 467 784 points and 96 challenges. Rochelle was surprised. A small video box popped up, showing a dark room, the camera filming in night vision. Two boys, neither of them older than 13, entered. A screen opened on the far wall, with two names on it, two boxes, and two sentences. 

Isiah: Be the last; 10 000 points.

Jimmy: Kidnap the tashop; 10 000 points.

What is this place, Rochelle thought. And who are the challengers? And why are they in that room?
