The Passing of a Dream

The Passing of a Dream

A Poem by AmericanStandard

Whispering winds turn my face again

The thought of another growing dimmer in the light
The fleet of a passing leaf draws my attention to reality

As the footsteps of yesterday echo in my ears
A face sliding past my mind turning away as time flashes by

Her body a silhouette against the morning sky
What comes to my thoughts as I remember a kiss?

No more lingering tingles on the corners of my lips
The trance that has taken me leads me down an unraveled road

Shapes passing by with no glimmer in their eyes
Seeing the world out of newly born dreams

Chasing that temptress and quivering in the breeze
The fleet of a passing leaf draws my attention to reality

Fore I am no more than a distant memory.
