Empty Glass

Empty Glass

A Poem by AmericanStandard

"Empty glass,
Last cigarette."
Last dance,
No more regrets.
Lights down low,
Feelings remain.
Moving slow,
To remember the pain.
"Empty glass,
Last cigarette.
Closing time,
And I'm drunk again."
Empty glass.
Last time goodbye.
Watchin you,
Walk out of my life.
Lovers lost,
As history shows.
Forget the cost,
Only God knows.
"Empty glass,
Last cigarette."
Time is gone,
Our fates not set.
Wishful dreams,
Of what was instore.
Life may seem,
To only walk out the door.
"Empty glass,
Last cigarette.
Closing time,
And I'm drunk again."
Empty glass.
Holding what's true.
And looking past,
The truth you knew.
Eyes open wide,
To the deciet that fell.
Feeling blind,
To the obvious of tells.
"Empty glass,
Last cigarette.
Closing time,"
But my heart can't rest.
"Empty glass,
Last cigarette.
Closing time,
And I'm drunk again."
