Writing (Age 12)

This was a poem that I wrote at the age of 12 about my passion for writing.

Writing

I like to write. 

It sends my heart on a wild flight. 

The words fill my heart with glee, 

For all my problems I can flee. 

It makes me happy, 

And not so snappy. 

I can express my day. 

And tell of how I work and play. 

With words I can be free. 

And fill myself with a special glee. 

I don't care if you are against it, 

I will get my way or throw a fit. 

I will write 'til I am one hundred

And can't write anymore,

And I will only stop when my hand is sore. 

To me writing is a passion, 

I will write even if I have to go without ration.

That's how much it means to me, 

and soon you all will see.

Each day my passion for writing 

Gets stronger and stronger,

That's how I know it will last longer and longer. 

Author's Note

This was one of my better poems that I wrote when I was 12. I had grammar and word choice help (like ration) because I was reciting the poem for the parents at a parent breakfast held by the school.

I was quite happy. Though, those were the carefree days of childhood. I have been told that my transition from the sunshine sparkles and rainbows of my childhood to the kidnappings and sadistic tortures that occupy my writing nowadays is a remarkable leap.
