Nothing Changes

It's even better than love. A slow burn friendship. Happy, I think.

There is a girl

She is careful

Gentle

Kind

Quiet

No one gets past her barriers 

There is a boy

A perfect boy

Beautiful

Smart

Brave

Funny

He loves the world

Her heart seizes when she first sees him

Him and his flawless girl

Who she will not bring herself to hurt

Or hate

So she longs from a distance

Nothing changes

One day

He tells her a joke

She laughs 

It surprises them both

Still

Nothing changes

He comes back the next day

Stays a little longer

She doesn't dare look directly at him

He comes back again

And again

Eventually they talk

Her heart beats too fast

And she stutters

But he doesn't leave

He lets her talk

It happens again

And again

He trusts her

Respects her

It stops being weird

He hands her his phone

And she freezes

They don't do this

They fly in different circles

She longs from a distance

He's the perfect boy

And she the careful girl

That never changed

She wonders how he did it

Got past the gate

Stopped her longing

Replaced it with something so much better

Became her friend

In the end though

How and why

It happened

Don't matter

It just did

Nothing changes

Everything changes

Author's Note

A different style, I haven't done much third person poetry. It's also happier than a lot of what I've done recently. I'm pretty happy with it but I want to hear what people think! I had trouble coming to a conclusion and end that I was satisfied with and I'm still iffy on that in particular.

Kindness is probably the most attractive thing to me.
Now, I'm not going to pretend that looks don't matter, yeah?
But there is something about a gentle kind heart.

That girl probably does not even understand that it was inevitable for him to approach her.
And just as he 'Slid' through her barriers and 'Unlocked' her gates,

It was she who drew him in,
her pull made him gravitate closer, and return every day.
And her light absorbed him into her like a fly on the balcony.
