Only The Spring RemainsA Poem by AJadeLiona poem for spring (and the other seasons too I guess)
I was born in the spring
I used to love the snow, and the wintertime And playing in it until my fingers and toes were numb Long days in the car, just to slide down the same hill over and over again Singing carols to strangers, all dressed in a red dress I used to love summer heat on the beach Riding the surf for hours on end, rolling in the sand Finding that sand in my lunch, and following that grainy meal with salty sea water I used to love to autumn leaves and sky Jumping in piles, and making crowns to befit a fairy princess Wearing cute sweaters and staying out late I don't love much anymore I do love the spring I was born in the spring I love the rain, and I love the sun Playing and not caring, hiding and being safe Drinking hot tea, and cold lemonade I love the flowers and their shy colors Not afraid to be themselves but still a little Like me, as I curl my hair and smile again' Me in my floating blue dress and a careless tune I love being able to stand on my own feet To not wish, but to do and to feel To not want, but to get and experience I love that there is magic that not even my mind in it's dark place can kill That laughter can still burst from simply being Knowing that another year, has brought another spring And the joy that I still feel I don't love much anymore I do love the spring
