As a WomanA Poem by papermush08In celebration of International Women's Day, this is my tribute to every Divine Feminine. As a woman, I shall not be defined if it'll solely leave me confined I shall not be condescendingly told to wander through my garden every time I come off as bold As a woman, of course I'm not devoid of vanity, But I decline to be as vain as an idle beauty It polishes my confidence when I'm flattered, But no flattery remains unshattered As a woman, you can look at me with pleasure, But I aspire that you look up to me like a savior You can hold the door for me and lead the way, But don't escort me like a weakling who'd go astray As a woman, my heart swells to be cared for, Just as my spirit traverses worlds carried by Love and honor Yes, as a woman, I would surrender to a loyal touch, Yet, give me my days when I need not to cling too much As a woman, I'm counting on your adoration, But allow me to peak higher and brandish myself as an inspiration I like pretty things, featherlight and sentimental More often than not, my fragility appears mental Because as a woman, I possess such tremendous energy Akin to creation's throes and fecundity As a woman, I hope to be a wonder at a glance and out of sight, A thought of an esteemed delight Us,women aren't merely an ornament for gazing and plucking, We are the relentless flowering that knows to trust its suffering -Nicola An 03/08/2024
