Someday You Realize

Someday You Realize

A Poem by Amber

I work, just like everyday,
no matter how much my laziness refuses me to
I heard before; but now it's the truth,
to live you have to keep your hands and legs moving

When I was little, I saw my father toil to put bread on the table
And I took his hard work as something so easy to earn
My mother stitched clothes, saving every penny for the future
so she could buy something useful

I played like reckless child, whining complaints over their burden
asking: I want that mommy
Then if she refused to waste money
I went to daddy because he never said no

Now I come to realize how life has changed,
the unfelt hardships draw to become a reality
What once was so easy to imagine that there is nothing hard,
has made me realize that life is filled with responsibilities

Their time has passed
they labored and gave their whole life to raise you,
and have sent you prepared to face the world that still works like everyday,
except the old people are replaced with the new people

It tells a story... The last two stanzas are fabulous with deep meaning and realization of life for the poet... When we are little, we hardly think of the hardships behind our parents' accomplishments, we think that they get all the things without breaking a sweat but we realize the reality of this when we are in their shoes and when we face the hardships and responsibilities of life...

This is a thought provoking write... Filled with exceptional elements and ending with a vision of life... Well done new frnd...

Sincerely

Your poem does a great job of showing us the progression from child to adult, something everyone lives thru (hopefully). In today's world, I think it can be much tougher for young people to earn a living that's ample enuf to afford to move out of the parents' house. So not only are you showing us appreciation for what your parents did to afford a decent living, but also you show us how hard it can be to follow in their footsteps these days.
