Hebron

Hebron

A Poem by Amber V. Black

“Keep the closet closed” he said

But I dared open it.

Standing there, leaving the life I lived;

A constant wave of caution cleverly escaping my grasp.

I jumped in,

- h                    e                      a                      d                     f           i           r          s          t

indulged myself in the regrets I had yesterday

-  in all the chances I had not taken

If only I could finish all the beginnings I once started,

but now I’m older, with my own decisions to make

no one to hold my hand

no one to sing you are my sunshine to me

Now it is just me

 can I really make the right choices?

He told me to keep the closet closed

But I,

I dared open it.
