Smoke in the mirror

Smoke in the mirror

A Poem by Amber V. Black

Time stops for no one,

They tell me.

I tell them,

Take a look inside that hourglass

And time will stand alone.

Each grain of sand,

A story,

A memory.

Take a look inside that glass,

You see the time we danced at the party,

Masquerade masks, my crimson dress.

You see the first day I met you,

How much we hated each other.

You see us together,

When the world could not touch us.

You see us now, miserable and apart.

The glass has shattered.

Take a look at that broken glass,

We can try to fix it.

But it can never go back the same way it was before

Consider this small dust, here in the glass.

Another lovely set of words ... saying it all and not too much .. I love the description of the hourglass and how memories are recollected ..I wonder if you put the words in the shape of an hourglass how that would work ...

as I said before your writing is fresh and carries learning though experience melded with aspirations ,,, lovely write xx
