Lantern Light

Lantern Light

A Poem by Amber Roze

Behind the soot stained glass
residue scent of burnt oil
remains of the night past
smoke kissed smudges
tempered as the lantern
her beauty in the sunlight
Wick soaked in desire
passionate flames flicker
brightest against the dark
night contrasting light
Like a belly dancer sways
charming flutist command
tames a dancing snake
so does the lantern's flame
call to lay his claim
in the blackest of night
drawn to her inferno glow
of the lantern light
