The Weight of Silence

The Weight of Silence

A Poem by Amberlilies
"

My morning writing exercise for today.

"
Silence is a powerful device. Saying nothing at all speaks dimensions of the mind.
Silence is lethargy,
it is the calm before the storm & the chaos of the aftermath,
Silence is contentment,
it is the words we fear to say & the consequent pain,
Silence is uncertainty,
it is disdain for those we thought we knew & those we never wish to,
Silence is unnerving;
What does your Silence mean?

This is a very thoughtful piece of work. Silence can be quite a scarce commodity nowadays. Every so often I head into the hills on my own for a few days. I know that not everyone would cope with it but I find it a positive experience. Well done!
You might like to check out a poem/story of mine called 'Times enigma' inspired by one of these trips.
Thanks, Alan

Thank you for reading. I will definitely check out your piece as well!
I love silence. When I was young. I knew people who free-climbed and suicide boarded. In the hidden part of the mountain and dancing with the sea in the time of the storms. Perfect silence. Good to find places where silence is your to enjoy. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
