Lamentations of a Fool, Cognitive Dissonance and The Power of Something Great

Lamentations of a Fool, Cognitive Dissonance and The Power of Something Great

This may be hard to relate to if you have never been a spiritual person. This is an account of a person who has strayed away from God.

"

After listening to song after song of shameless artists, deciphering their meanings, you hear an odd melody that moves you like no other because the song of faith has more significance than a song composed of mere human creativity. Sounds that display such heavenly beauty should not be muted so lightly.

After studying the vast knowledge of great men, contemplating their works, you find yourself returning to words that give even greater knowledge because the words of truth are more significant than mere speculation. Something that speaks into your ears, confirming its majesty, should not be scoffed at so lightly.

After endlessly reaching out for human contact, hoping to receive love that fills a void, you find yourself reminiscing of a love that was unjust to the human laws of give and take because undeserved love is more significant than a love that must be sought and earned. Something so gracious, sacred and everlasting should not be trampled on so lightly.

After tasting the sweetness of wine, it begins to taste bitter, and you yearn to return to the righteous cup of living water because gulping wine to satisfy a strong thirst is counterproductive. Something that is free yet so powerful should not be passed up so lightly.

After years of longing for someone to speak to and finding only idle chatter you hear the quiet whisper of someone through the silence because sometimes you must be silent to hear. Something so subtle yet profound should not be ignored so lightly.

It's abstract yet clear. I understand yet I have to think about it. It's good but I feel like it lacks a true ending. I feel like there's more to the story. Maybe it's one of those poems you write as you live. :)
