As adversity struck its staggering blow,
It’s winds of change a threatening wail;
It found its foe standing with resolve.
With generosity and grandeur it stood,
Humility birthed from bloody dispute;
The nation observed its surroundings.
It saw the strain of disheartening fear,
And held out a hand to those near;
A place to belong and food to spare.
Still the winds of adversity blew,
Seeking to subdue growing hope;
Still its foe stood with dedication.
Against the onslaught of strife and hate,
It brought together those who had fought;
Giving nothing but impassioned tolerance.
In time the winds began to change,
As hatred lost it influence in the land;
And freedom rang up unrestrained.
