doubt slips in

I wrote this to help describe that internal feeling of doubt, when you're not sure whether to trust your instincts or not.. when you're not sure whether you want to know the truth or believe the lie

Doubt slips in

to greet me again

like an old friend

with a smile on her face

that icy embrace

stops my heart for part of a second

while I question her presence

Oh yes, its me

she gently speaks right in my ear

prickles of fear

run over my body..

hardly

listening anymore

just staring at the floor

acknowledging the door

is still open..

hoping

Doubt

hasn't figured it out

my exit route

any door to ignore the truth

will do

Ignorance is bliss, they say. I think it can be, but I think once you do have doubt but choose to believe the lie, you can never go back to where you were before you had doubt. That doubt is slowly eating away at you and you need to find the answer or it just keeps on, like an itch you need to scratch. Excellent writing, you conveyed those feelings perfectly.

Yes I totally agree. Thank you for commenting! Don't eats relentlessly at me sometimes and I choose to ignore it just because the answer may be something too hard to deal with at the time.. but ignorance can definitely be bliss
