A Thousand Little Ways

A Thousand Little Ways

A Poem by A.marie.speaks
"

I wrote this for my grandmother, who suffered from a severe, quick onset of dementia last fall. She raised my sisters and I after our mother walked out and for that, I am forever grateful.

"

I will remember in a thousand little ways

the home you made

the lives you changed

I'll stand in your rays forever

I will remember in a thousand little ways

your amazing faith

your boundless grace

you made the world seem better

I will remember in a thousand little ways

to stand up straight

to keep the hair outta my face

all the days we spend together

I will remember in a thousand little ways

all the songs you sang

the joy you brang

you're our family's greatest treasure

I will remember in a thousand little ways

your words so tender

your love beyond measure..

But I wont remember

That you don't remember

Me.

Yes, I know "brang" is not a word... but she was a stickler for grammar and would continuously fix my words, I felt it was only right to leave that one out there for her to fix.. one last time.

Think you brang this poem right out of your heart. Very direct and touching. Never had a grandmother, but looking forward to being one someday.

Thank you!
what a very touching sentiment and tribute to your grandmother! I can truly relate for my grandmother was the sweetest and the wisest person I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Thank you for allowing me to read this work and for taking me back to a memory that I will treasure forever.

Your poems are dark, mysterious, and interesting. Thanks for liking "To My Father on this 80th Birthday."

My grandmother was dearer to me than life itself. She suffered with Dementia, than died from kidney failure in a nursing home. I was hopeful to make it back home before she died, which I did, and I am now most grateful for the opportunity of saying goodbye to her.

Grandmothers are such an intricate part of our lives, and I really enjoyed how you infused that love into this poem and shared it with us!

Bless you!
