Memories or Lies

I wrote this with thoughts of all the deceptive relationships I've had in my life.. from parents to partners.

Memories or lies?
It's hard to tell sometimes
Because I'm not you,
I will never know the truth.

Questions and tensions
I must just forget them
I cannot lay down and let them
Devour me slowly
But inability holds me
I can't let it control me..

But doubt slips in..

Author's Note

I'm terrible at keep a strict stanza or following a straight pattern throughout an entire piece.. I always stray.. hopefully it is not too distracting

How true is this poem??! We should all be able to relate to this poem and its theme. Trust is such a valuable commodity in any relationship and once trust is shattered all hope of a normal, happy relationship goes straight out the window. Forevermore, doubt creeps into the mind, like a sneaky goblin, whispering and taunting with its vicious illusions that just may or may not be true.
A very relevant poem, A.Marie. Well written and flowing quite well given the unique structure.

Not so-called, what you say? ah.. "distracting", not at all.
The sack of your poetry - deceptive relations - clearly & vividly portraying the format of something realistic that everyone may deal with or passing throu' in his or her day-to-day life. And, what it is: "Memories Of Lies".

See, not distracting.

Like the syllogism of "questions" & "tensions". You replace the "un-answered-s***s" with the word "tension", which's undoubtedly nev'r be answered nor damn solved by the therapy of life.

Whatever it is, the "questions" and the format of your very formative "answers", everything belongs to one-s***s .. called "love",
"... that's either full of "memories of lies"
and the "questions and tensions",
you don't understand what to choose or what not to,
cos everything's hung in 'twix the metaphysics, the heart's suspensions."

Great work, as always, short, simple & very clear-cut poetry. Heartfelt, oh.. it's excellent, though.

Thank you, thank you. I do definitely see what you're saying. I actually like the change you suggest with 'memories of lies' but I feel deflated by labeling it that way.. I feel like it's a mystery.. are what I hold on to true memories or lies to cover up what was really goin on.. I'm conflicted. But thanks for showing me that perspective. I always absorb your advice !
