Black Woman's Fairy Tale

Black Woman's Fairy Tale

A Poem by Mandika
"

When I was a grown A women I remember how much I was enchanted with Tinkerbell, wondering how come there were no black fairytale characters, fairytales so I decided to write a poem about it...and here it go.

"

Where is it cause
ioun like opening up bout my
despair
Business when I’m feeling is rare
cept with some one close
Share it with you but…
Sometimes I would like to check out
Remain in animation of course

Iouno

No, don’t need a hug
Get that outta here
Maybe if done appropriately
from a visible man
Offering more than wireless
panting
Might take a woman’s
arm’s in this hour

Go some place like off
the Mediterranean
but not really
a facimile
Everybody spoke one tongue
greeting me
Assurance to get it off my chest
uninhibitedly

There’d be healthy jamaican food
Neo jazz in rotation constantly
With a saucer expression I’d ask
"how did you know?"

Reach in my Fendi for monetary compensation
Get a firm hand and the words, “your money
is no good here”, your appearance
is revered

My sheroe’s welcoming…
the men have full inspiring lips
Deep set dark eyes
I wouldn’t have to apologize if I
took a moment to stare ‘em upside

While they placed a magnolia behind
my ear
Two girlfriend’s like Rah Digga and
Joy Byrant would appear, “saying come
girl let’s hang”
Going to a jump off on the brain
the night ends so well

That would be just swell
So where is it when I need it
Where’s my fairy tale
