Embrace

Embrace

A Poem by Amandine Grace

Even though I felt it only in a dream, the love that came from the man who held me was almost unbearable. Though, not in a bad sense, more like a feeling of absolute fullness and contentment where any more would make you burst.
He held me so tightly, as if our lives depended upon it and I, a head shorter than he wrapped my arms around his neck in a vice grip, certain I was suffocating him.

His familiar manly scent went straight to my head, making my heart beat erratically and my stomach flip, the outside world was now lost to me as I buried my face into his chest while his strong arms squeezed me tightly around my shaking body.

It had been too long since we had embraced like this- too long had I thought that he was gone, had left me to face this wretched world alone.

When I saw him waiting for me with his shoulder length hair damp from rain, his untied black biker boots and his old leather jacket, I felt as my soul returned to my body.

For without him, I am nothing.
