Yearning

Yearning

A Poem by Silent Lover

I stand as a man, unafraid.

I reach for what is not mine to have.

I weep for what has not happened.

I love what is unseen.

I hear the song that has never been heard.

I detest the winter that never came.

I miss Paris, which I never saw.

I see the smile that never happened.

I smell the rain that never came.

I hold a promise that has never been given.

I feel the touch that did not ensue.

I love a woman that exists only in the whisper of the wind.

I cherish a heartbeat that can never match mine.

I see a sun set,

That will never rise…

...
. beautifully written ...
. possibly with a sense of sadness and resignation ...
. the title is insightful ... what we yearn for may not necessarily inspire us ...
