Light

Light

A Poem by Amadeus III
"

This is not a poem so much as a call to prayer. Even if you are not religious, this you must agree: Sometimes, there are aspects of our lives that are beyond our control.

"

Even if you are not religious, this you must agree:

Sometimes, there are aspects of our lives that are beyond our control.

Sometimes, we plunge ourselves into shame because it is easier.

Sometimes, the only way to change things is to change ourselves.

You don't need to pray to God if you do not wish to.

But if you are tired of fighting to make your world turn as you wish it to;

of feeling ashamed each time you take the easy way out;

of endlessly circling the drain of your own choices;

If you tire of living your life the same way you did yesterday:

Then pray this prayer, speak these words,

and live their meaning, whatever that may be to you.

Oh Light!

Oh that which parts shadow and silence,
perforating the depths of our solitude:
know me better than I know myself,
and my spirit transform in your wisdom.

Amen.

This is really good. I like the message, a lot. It is true and can be interpreted by everyone. It is nicely written, too, to make this message more meaningful and effective. Good ending to a good poem.
