sunsets

sunsets

A Poem by Alycia M.

if you love the sun set
why is it so hard for
you to stop what you
do and look at it
once in a while.
you might see
something new.
when you finnaly
open your eyes
you can see
more than
just me,
you might
see my eyes
staring back
you might see
the way i smile when you pass by
or you will see
the way i have a hard time not
grinning when i
hear you laugh
even if its from
far away, just
open your eyes
to the things
right in front
of you offering
you their shoulder.

Welcome to WC! I love the message of this poem -open your eyes. Some things of extreme beauty bring us to this truth more easily than others -such as the sunset in your poem. Becoming overwhelmed in the feeling of the moment in this way can bring us closer to others or even be reminded of the others with whome we've shared such moments... Great write! Thank you!
