Cleansing rain

Cleansing rain

A Poem by Jerri
"

For those of you who love to dance in the rain~

"

Tilting my head
Cool drops of rain
Wash tears away
Clean away all the pain

Calm washes over me
Feeling the rain’s embrace
My soul rises
Caresses on my face

Lightning flashes
Chorus of renewal begins
Thunder rolls
I begin to spin

Twirl and whirl
Sigh and giggle
Pirouette and leap
Stomp and wiggle

Huff and puff
Spin and spin
Laughing and dizzy
Time to go in

Drenched and spent
I seek indoors
But quickly I curtsy
I will remember you forever more

Light is my heart
Light is my soul
Thank you dear rain
For you have made me whole

I like this poem: short, simple, dancing in the rain. You can't go wrong. I only have a couple suggestions, though. In line 14, "Sigh and giggle," the word "sigh" doesn't seem to fit... This poem is so jubilant, nothing about it makes me want to sigh. The same goes for line 17: "Huff and puff" has an almost exasperated feel and, again, that's the last thing I feel when reading this. Thanks for posting this! I truly enjoyed it. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Bennett...the sigh and giggle is from getting a little dizzy, the huff and puff is from getting a little winded from dancing around.

I have also written about dancing in the rain - at night. It is mystical, cleansing and I think connects us to Luna and Mother Earth. For women, it is very powerful.

Great poem.
