What lives on inside of me

What lives on inside of me

A Poem by alvarie

What lives on, lives on,
What does not, does not,
what comes and goes and never leaves
has always left a mark.
they leave pain, and heartache,
the pain that seeps through you as you cry and cry and cry.
the kind that leaves a stain.
the stain grows bigger and bigger and bigger, from what lives on inside of you,
of me,
of her or him,
no one can get rid of them. they seem to be here and there and every there.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel, The saviors of our minds,
these winged creatures beat the horns. horns fight back but do not win
horns that live inside of us cower at the back of our brains, plotting revenge
the horns may always be there, but wings will be there too.
wings take forms of family, friends and love,
wings will always find you. wings will bring you out of the dark.
