Some Great Truth

Some Great Truth

A Poem by Kasey Jones
"

This is a revised and hopefully much better version of a poem I wrote for 7th grade English using words cut out newspaper headlines. I didn't like the original version since I had to dumb it down.

"
Students work to move a quitting city.
Jazz is lost
And openly mourned.
Monsters roam the streets.
They aim to terrify.
Petrify.
Glorify, justify.

Art is charged with energy
To catch a grand eye.
We are ready. I can feel it in the air.
The stage is set.
Upgrade to the desensitized life.
Feel the transformation.
Let the changes control you.
Introducing: the way it is.

Here's the original version if you're interested. Keep in mind it was using cutouts of words from newspaper headlines so it's kinda choppy.
Some selected students work to move a quitting city.
Jazz is lost
Art is charged with energy
To catch a grand eye.
The stage is set.
Upgrade to the showbiz life.
Everything else is rough.
Introducing the flock.

Good job. I hate school assigned poems, especially ones with tough criteria like this. You did a good job with it though, although I agree, the new one's definetely better. "Jazz is lost, and openly mourned." I love those lines because they flow really well with the rest of the poem. Keep it up.

this looks like a fun way of expressing poetry, the entire design seems to be
an artful intention, the meaning is all around, the way each sentence links
to the next, and the poem feels exactly as it reads.
like an artzy energitic mishmash, awsome job

Hello Kasey,

I too like the new, more mature version of the poem. Although very impressive coming from cuts outs. Impressed as always I do look forward to many many more from you.

So much truth is lost in the everyday life that we allow the lies to become the norm. Why? Why do we continue to accept this? Why do we continue to allow this to occur? It's a society that spurs people like myself who either rape the lands of everything innocent and soon lost....or rape our minds from pure passion.

We accept it because......it's interesting.

Always,

Matthew
