Eternal Solace

Eternal Solace

A Poem by Alraune

ETERNAL SOLACE

I walked,

Past all of which was mine;

Taking in the cold, empty stares,

Watching them stand alive;

Past golden rays,

Singing of warmth and joy,

None of which caressed me,

None that could;

Past mellow songs,

Speaking of simple clarity,

Fleeing swiftly, tearing out my soul,

Departing the taste of sweet purity;

Past soft rustling leaves,

The branches whispering,

Delusional mockery was what it sought;

Walking past existence,

A fragment of the past,

Forgotten in the sands of time,

Invisible to the outside,

Numb to the inside;

Overtaking me, enwrapped in its frosty gaze,

My heart cracked,

It bled for none naught,

The blood and pain,

Stain it did, seeping within,

Skating over the wound, its icy tips,

Nothingness was what replaced it;

I walked,

I sought,

I craved,

The eternal path of solace.

This was a very beautiful poem.
Soft and careful, as though the lines themselves were the path, and you were walking them as you wrote.
You kept the scene real and always vivid, instead of turning it too harshly to either end of the spectrum. Steady. Yes, very steady.
Really lovely piece! :]
