I don't mean to pull a Michael Jackson but it don't matter if you're black or white.A Poem by AlprisJust a little experiment in class. I'm sorry if this offends anyone, I am not racist. I will take it down if it is, though. My inspiration? the ending joke. When I see an Asian kid chalk white skin eyes folded to unblinking coin slots I say to him "Your family must be racist. You look full Chinese." "I'm Korean," he says. "Same s**t, different country," I say. When I see a Maori kid beef gravy skin and carved tattooed legs I say to him "Your family must be racist. You look full Maori." "Oh, I am, aye, but I'm Irish too," he says. "Buy you a beer, bro?" I ask. "I don't drink," he says. "You're a liar," I say. And I see an Indian boy. His skin a dead plum brown knobby fingers mischievous he sees me and smiles and I sneer a facial whirlpool. "You must be racist," he says. "I am not," I say. "I'm Filipino, Lebanese, Irish, Scottish, European and with a dash of Spanish. What right do I have to be racist?" He just stares at me, and I laugh. "Silly Indian," I say. "I'm also Japanese," he says, while his eyes ravish my shell. "You're a liar," I say. "Buy you a beer?" he asks. "No thanks," I say. "I've got enough nationalities in me."
