footsteps in the sand

footsteps in the sand

A Poem by Alpris
"

First draft.

"

waves will twist
in the woven hands of the sea's wind

           ripping sun in the distance

paint a jagged quivering dance of yellow zebra stripes
this is a world that has been awakened,

there!    an island beckoning

in the distance like roaring pebbles

firing        into        the    sea's  belly

and this is a ship she sails on
       her majesty
holding the hearts of every felony in this world
         at her belt
in the careless cradle of her satchel

        it      swings           easily
against the slap of the ocean's breath

       and her majesty's daughter
                         serene ; an untouched desert
trampled from the making of the beast
                       beneath
she could smooth those plains of salt
             with her bare hands
and build a  castle
                      worthy for
                      the two of them

if she could see her daughter just once
    now she will,       forward sails
to greet   feet     in the     sand.
