Dear Old FriendA Poem by Amulya Leona NoronhaDear old friend, I know you’re out there making new friends. I know you’re finding more joy out there with them. I know you’ll completely forget me one day. All this, I realize only now! Remember that carving we did on our school wall? It read ‘We’re the world’s best-best-friends!’ Back then, maybe it was true. Now, I don’t know. Maybe I’m only going through a phase in life. The phase of moving on, The phase of moving away. Yet, I miss you… My old friend. I really hope that, One day you’ll open your old treasure box to find, The friendship locket that I gifted. I hope you’ll tell your child, You had a friend like me. Old friend, You ain’t that old after all! I keep remembering you daily. New and fresh in my memories. I wish, This poem becomes a false one and you remember me today. We have the same old talks and the same old fun. Before, we really perish into the time’s fade. © 2016 Amulya Leona Noronha |
