A Man Is Only As Good As His Strings

A Man Is Only As Good As His Strings

A Poem by AlmostWhatIWant

With the hook and the line you'll have me
Just as soon as you bait my life
I am tied to you and you pull all my strings
You are my owner, one of my favorite things
I'm stuck as your puppet, an adoring slave
Let me know if you need anything
Ill be ingesting another bottle
Of absolution so I can last another day

So don't look at me
When I plagiarize and fantasize
Don't look me in the eye
Just tell me to go to hell
Pray to your savior I die

I understand he is quite a busy man
But maybe he'll answer you soon
And if he doesn't just order me to
Become lifeless and at once I'll obey
Just tell me in what way you wish
Me to die, wish me to die
Die, die, yeah, oh

Don't look at me for I am unclean
Oh master, oh owner, oh murderer
Have mercy on me

I am but the most humble of servants
Pure as the silver of your ring
And you the master of serpents
Can do what you will with me
Just don't put me down
Don't stop pulling those strings
For a puppet without motion
Isn't anything
