There is such a raw (in the natural sense, not in a 'rough draft' sort of sense) feel to this, a naturesong that goes on wordlessly after the reader finishes the piece. How lovely, lady :)
The middle segment has a wonderful rhythm to it, each section I felt was as a new drumbeat, ones that were meant to sequence as displayed.

The wolf is a very powerful spirit animal. If it is your totem, you can't fight the howling in you :) This is great, Allyson. I feel like taking a run just reading it. Nice work, my friend.

I'd like to believe it is my totem. Thank you for the wonderful review, as always! :)
Softly invoking; the very first few lines trigger vivid images of my mind of the Great Plains, dragging up the stereotyped field images of totem poles, crackling campfires, and great billowy Sioux tents rustling in the wind. By the end of the first line alone, I suspect a lupine influence, and I am proven right by the second form. The thirst for a wolf's stride and the throbbing heart of the beast show their fangs in this smooth, short-but-sweet poem, which captures a Wild West sort of feel on what I suspect is your favourite predator of the wilds.

Yes, the wolf is most definitely my favorite predator and a creature I consider akin to my own spirit and soul. Everything you've just written in this review is everything I had hoped to provoke! Thanks you for your kind words!
Oooo...this one's nice. I like that it is both short but rhythmy. It has bounce to it. I especially love the first stanza...that ferocious little smile. :) It makes me want to write a story about a wolf...or a werewolf.
Makes me think of a book series I once read, about a werewolf who meets a wolfwere. If you don't know the difference; Werewolf= Person that turns into a wolf. A Wolfwere is a wolf that can turn into a person. These ones never see the world like a person does.
Excellently done.

This was one of my favorite ones to write so far, so thanks for the review? What was the name of that series? If you can remember, that is. It sounds interesting and I'd love to give it a look over! Thanks again for the review! As usual, much appreciated!

And you're most welcome for the review. Been having computer troubles so my presence on writerscafe may soon dwindle into nothing. Gotta get my reading and reviewing in while I can.
